I’ve recently read that WW2 German destroyers did not sink a single enemy submarine during the war.
The only exception was ZG-3 ’Hermes’ which sank British S class ’Splendid’ in April 1942.
But that was in the Mediterrenian and Hermes was a captured by Germans British-built destroyer.
So the question what was the status of ASW in WW2 German Navy?
It looks like it was none.
Which ships were equipped with DCs? I know that destroyers like Zerstorer 1934, 1936 used to have depth-charge racks and throwers and used to carry 18-30 DCs.
How about other ships like Torpedoboot 1923,24,35,35? Did they have DCs or only mines?
How about ASW weapons on minesweepers like Minensuchboot or R-Boot? What was ASW on German escorts - Class F Geleitboot or Flottenbegleiter?
